Hi there! I am Serenity Warkentine, baker and decorator at the Cookie Jar Company. My family and I are from a very small town on the east side of Ohio. By day, I am an Online Middle School History Teacher. 

What inspired me to start a cookie business? Great question! Together, my husband and I have five children. We've done annual family cookie decorating contests and enjoyed leisurely making cookies. I've always had an artistic drive to make the cutest cookies possible. After attending a cookie decorating class with a former youth group friend, I decided to take the plunge and try out making, baking, decorating...and selling cookies. 

My first real adventure was making about 60 heart cookies for my two youngest boys Valentine's Day parties. I had so much fun I decided to make 30 more latte/mug cookies for ALL our kids' teachers! Whew! It was a lot for my first adventure. 

It paid off! The teachers were over the moon. Several commented, "I'd buy these!" And so the real adventure began...
